Historic Centennial Field was the site of the Anglers Day at the Ballpark on July 26, 2009.

On Sunday July 26th Lake Champlain International, Inc. hosted the 2nd Annual LCI Anglers Day at the Ballpark with the Vermont Lake Monsters, single A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, at Centennial Field in Burlington, VT.

An enthusiastic crowd of 2,500 enjoyed a beautiful afternoon dedicated to the Lake Champlain Community, Lake Champlain International, Inc., and friends of the fishing tradition.

The afternoon began with face painting courtesy of LCI, lake exhibits from the Lake Champlain Basin Program, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Lake Champlain Sea Grant, and a boat display from Starcraft Marine. Vermont Fish and Wildlife provided a fish viewing tank with salmon and several species of Trout, and the Let’s Go Fishing Program promoted their focus of introducing people of all ages – with an emphasis on families – to fishing and water resources in Vermont.

On field festivities began with Bobber Bob, LCI’s official spokesbobber and Captain of the LCI Tackle Team, joining Champ, the beloved mascot of the Lake Monsters, entering the field in a Starcraft boat. After entertaining the crowd, Bobber Bob and Champ were joined by 5 little anglers to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Throughout the game, LCI and Bobber Bob thrilled the crowd with several promotions and dugout dances. Some lucky children left home with a brand new fishing pole after successfully answering questions during LCI Jeopardy and the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department wowed the crowd with a casting demonstration. Slick footed Bobber Bob and Champ boogied down in between innings and got everyone on their feet with a rousing rendition of YMCA.
