Fishing Club Grants Program
The LCI Fishing Club Grant Program is funded by Lake Champlain International, Inc. ("LCI"), and is designed to encourage after school programs that provide schools the opportunity to organize a group of students and increase their outdoor participation through fishing.
Programs currently receiving LCI support include:
- Alburgh Community Education Center
- Colchester Parks and Recreation
- Essex Middle School
- Georgia Middle School
- Shelburne Community School
Purpose of LCI Fishing Club Grant Program
The purpose of this program is simple: to encourage kids to go fishing. Fishing is a fun, easy to learn, and exciting activity that teaches kids positive life skills. Among these important life skills are respect of nature, stewardship, decision-making, problem solving, goal setting, patience, and camaraderie.
How LCI Grants Will Be Awarded
Award of the LCI Grants will be based on an evaluation of how active an applicant club will be in providing actual fishing opportunities.
What LCI Will Provide
LCI will provide up to $500 in grant money to be allocated for bait and tackle, travel expenses (if necessary), and other permissible fund expenditures approved by LCI. LCI may also provide rods & reels based on its review of each individual school application.
Each club will be asked to complete an application at the outset and a grant allocation form at the end of any calendar year in which funding took place describing the activities of the club and substantiating expenditures.
